In 2021, Alabama Appleseed worked to get Alonzo Hurth released from prison. Then a combination of efforts from the League of Women Voters, Faith in Action Alabama, and Greater Birmingham Ministries helped him restore his right to vote. Dori Miles, Return My Vote co-director, worked closely with Mr. Hurth in this effort to restore his voting rights. Read about Alonzo’s story here in the Alabama Reflector!
