Return My Vote, in partnership with Alabama Forward and student volunteers from Stillman College and the University of Alabama’s Vote Everywhere chapter, has compiled an Election Guide for Tuscaloosa County’s 2026 Primary Election. This Guide includes information on voter eligibility and registration, the voting process and your rights, polling locations and absentee voting, the constitutional amendments on the ballot, and an overview of each office and its candidates — with candidate biographies and their responses to priority issues identified by voters.

Alabama uses an open primary system: voters do not register with a party in advance, but must declare a party preference at the polls and may only vote on that party’s candidates. A candidate must win a majority to take the nomination outright; if no one does, a runoff between the top two vote-getters will be held on June 16, 2026.

The last day to register to vote in the primary is May 4, 2026, and Primary Election Day is May 19, 2026. To find out exactly who will be on your ballot, visit alforward.branch.vote.
